Him
It didn’t hit me like lightning, as it does for some. No. It was progressive at first, like a seed waiting to sprout. After the first spout came up, though, it grew quickly and never stopped growing. Your smile, like the sun peeking through the clouds on a cold day, warmed me. Your showers of affection are like soft rainstorms. The kind that I like to sit on my porch and watch. And when I am cold you are like a favorite blanket or sweater that wraps me in warmth. Your every touch is also that way, warm. Like when you are sitting by a fire and your skin starts to tingle.
How do I know when I have fallen in love if I fall harder every day? Every time you wink at me when no one else is looking and when you laugh at my jokes. Every time the wind brushes your hair as your holding my hand while we are riding our skateboards. Every time you talk about your favorite show or read me a verse in your leather bible. Every time I catch the gold in your evergreen eyes. Every time you make a joke and I laugh so hard my stomach hurts. Every time you kiss my hand. Every time you play me a song you like and sing along to it. Every time you finish off the food or tea I make for you with delight. Every time you pose stoically for a picture. Every time I ask something of you and you do it so willingly. Every time you fill me in on something I wasn't included in. Every time you do something kind for others, which is very often by the way. Every time you hug me from behind. Every time you listen to my words. The special thing about that one is, though, is that you always listen to me. It seems the seed that sprouted is never going to stop growing. At some point I’m going to have to admit to you and myself that I have fallen in love with you.
